That's what this episode is all about as I share with you a 3 step process you can use anytime you find yourself spiralling into overwhelm of ''how much you have to do'' yet just can't seem to find the motivation to do it!

By the end of this episode you will understand how to get a handle over your stress rather than your stress always having you so you stop leaving assignments till last minute. We dive into the sneaky limiting beliefs that are keeping you stuck in a spiral of procrastination - why this is so and how to change them so you go from a highly anxious student who can't stop procrastinating to a motivated student who only procrastinates sometimes.

Make school meltdowns a thing of the past by practicing this 3 step strategy I teach in this show - tune in to learn more now!

The 3 R’s to reducing anxiety and procrastination:

1. Recognise -

Recognise your own thoughts by separating out the pure facts and seeing how your current thinking is currently creating your anxiety and overwhelm.

Main thoughts that tend to cause anxiety-induced procrastination:

  • I don’t have enough time. There’s too much to do.

  • I don’t know what to write. I’m confused.

  • It’s not going to be good enough. I don’t have what it takes. It’s too hard I can’t do it.

2. Reflect -

Reflect upon the impact of these thoughts by asking, what do I do or not do when I am thinking and feeling this way?

Is this making me more or less productive with my time?

If I believed the exact opposite of these thoughts, how would I feel and what would I do differently?

3. Redirect -

Redirect to more balanced and empowering thoughts that will create more useful emotions like determined and motivated so you’re able to focus for longer and create more of the results you’re after!

Redirect thoughts for ‘’I don’t have time’’:

  • I have enough time to do what matters most in this moment.

  • I can handle what’s in front of me, one sentence at a time.

  • I am learning to be productive with my time.

Redirect thoughts for ‘’I don’t know what to do’’:

  • If I did know, it would be? Just take a guess…

  • I don’t know what to do - YET.

  • I’m figuring out what to do.

  • What’s one resource or person that could help me figure it out?

Redirect thoughts for ‘’I can’t this this. It’s too hard. I’m not going to do it good enough’’:

  • Of course it’s hard, it’s supposed to be!

  • I can do hard things.

  • My worth is not attached to the outcome of this.

  • Done is better than perfect → Aim for -B work! Hand in for feedback ahead of time and then refine it from there.

  • Feedback is my friend

  • Define success on things within your control; value the input more than the outcome! Listen to Episode 29 to learn more about reduce anxiety over school grades.

Remember not to put unrealistic expectations on yourself, and value yourself for more than a number but for who you’re being and your effort factor. That’s what’s preparing you most for life out of school!
